Description

Guests love the design, layout and location of this wonderful 3 bedroom home, close to the Uvita beaches.

It is perfect for families or for small groups, as it comfortably sleeps six adults.

The contemporary styled home has 3 bedroom, with 1 King size bed in the Owner's Suite, a queen size bed in Bedroom #2 that has patio and pool access and two single beds, perfect those with children.

There are three bedrooms.
Bedroom #1 has a king-size bed, en suite private bathroom with step-in shower, and plenty of storage. Additionally, there is a sliding glass door leading to the private swimming pool. The bedroom has A/C and a ceiling fan.

Bedroom #2 has a queen-sized bed, private work space/desk, sliding glass door access to the swimming pool, A/C and ceiling fan.

Bedroom #3 has two, single-sized, beds, A/C and a ceiling fan.

The modern kitchen has everything guests will need for their cooking desires, including stainless steel appliances.

The private swimming pool was beautifully designed in that some of it was built under the overhang of the patio.

The home has air conditioners in every bedroom and in the living room. Running the A/C units uses a lot of energy and, therefore, for rentals of 25 days or more, an electricity fee will be charged prior to check-in.

Casa Big Sky is an easy, flat and no highway crossing, 5-minute walk to Playa Chaman in Uvita. Enjoy one of the best beaches in the famous Ballena National Park region every day.

The master, overlooking the pool, also boasts a beautiful and private outdoor shower and tub. Each room has large closets. The large open space kitchen and living room overlooks the pool and fully covered patio and garden with huge sliding doors.

This spacious home is fully air conditioned and equipped with top of the line appliances that make daily routines easy. Barbecuing next to the pool is a natural way to spend your visit.


Interaction

Guests will meet with an Osa Property Management representative at check-in and at check-out. Osa Property Management will also be available from 7 am - 9 pm via WhatsApp group chat.

Osa Property Management’s Concierge and Vacation Planner team will contact you after you have made your reservation. We will assist with making any necessary transportation arrangements from Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO), or from one of the two local regional airports in the area - Palmar Sur or Quepos - to the property in Uvita. We will also arrange all excursions/activities/tours with reputable companies in the area, provide a link for grocery delivery, and make reservations at any restaurant. Our goal is to make your trip to Costa Rica enjoyable and as relaxing as you want it to be.

Neighborhood

Casa Big Sky is located in Uvita - home to the world famous whales tail beach formation, at Ballena National Park. There is a national park beach entrance several hundred meters from Casa Big Sky. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the home (Mexican, local 'typical') and a small grocery store.

Uvita, where the home is located, has everything a visitor will need to enjoy their time in Costa Rica. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, banks, pharmacies, gas stations and supermarkets all within about 5 minutes of the home.

Additionally, Uvita is the launching point for many water tours in the area. Let us know if you'd like to go deep-sea fishing, whale watching or SCUBA diving.

Other tours and activities in the area include horseback riding, turtle sanctuary, animal rescue center, National Parks, ATV tours, ziplining, birding, hiking, waterfalls, butterfly gardens...and more!

Uvita is home to coffee shops, restaurants, banks, amazing activities and great mix of locals and ex-pats.

Here you are a 2 minute drive to central Uvita and 15 minutes from Dominical or Ojochal. An amazing location and close to all tours, restaurants, services and amenities in the Costa Ballena region.

Access

Once guests have checked-in, they will have 24 hour unrestricted and private access to the home. The check-in process will involve meeting at the Osa Property Management office and a representative will escort you to the home.

Space

Casa Big Sky is a private home with no shared spaces. Guests will have the exclusive use of the property and the swimming pool.

Transit

Casa Big Sky is easily accessible by any kind of vehicle. Uvita does not have UBER and private taxis are not always available.

Please contact Osa Property Management if you would like to secure private transportation during your time at Big Sky and/or transportation to/from San Jose International Airport (or any other airport).

Excellent home - we had a great stay in Uvita! Almost everything about this property was perfect. We loved the location - close to the beach, restaurants, groceries - but very quiet at night. Great layout - my wife and I at one end with our own bathroom, and the kids at the other end with 2 bedrooms and their own bathroom. Kitchen was perfect and well equipped. Pool was amazing (a bit bigger than it looks in the photos) and the yard was great. The only minus on this property was the furniture - the couch in the living room was very uncomfortable - we could barely get through a movie at night sitting on it, and the outdoor furniture was terrible - the cheapest plastic furniture you could find. We mainly ate out in restaurants, but the times we did eat at the house, there was nowhere comfortable to sit. Overall a great home and we will def. be back to stay again (hopefully with some upgraded furniture next time!) Osa property management was a pleasure to work with.

Lovely spacious house in a good location.
High spec finish but small, cheap plastic table for outside dining. Pool was smaller than it looked on the photos , too cold and the pool filter/mechanics shed was noisy. Construction noise from next door from sunrise to sunset 6 days a week and construction noise across the road so it wasn't the relaxing and peaceful holiday we expected. Had to ask for a hairdryer that was listed and they said wasn't.

The house is very modern, clean, and has everything you need to cook and relax by the pool. The location is good as well, you can walk to a beautiful beach with mild but fun waves. And it isn’t busy at all, there wasn’t anyone there but us when we arrived at 8:00am. You walk by a few places on the way, a small supermarket, a few restaurants, and a great ice cream place with the nicest older lady that runs it. A bit of Spanish will help a lot, but everyone we came across was patient with my bad Spanish. The beach does cost about $6 per adult (kids free) and they only take credit card. We didn’t know this the first time we went down. A Mexican restaurant (La Choza De Alejo) is pretty much next door and is delicious. Check in was easy, the property managers were kind. It is an easy couple minute drive to all the other restaurants in Uvita.

The only bad thing was that we had a few issues. Some were resolved quickly, which I appreciated. But there was a smell coming from the drains and many mosquitoes inside the house. We kept doors closed all day to try to prevent it, and killed many, but they were still multiplying, perhaps coming from backed up sewer drains? I let the property managers know and hopefully they will address this issue because otherwise it was great. Bring bug spray just in case!

We stayed here for Christmas 2021. This is a brand new custom home, really nicely designed and built, and very comfortable. We liked everything about it. The outdoor dining and relaxing space by the pool is awesome. Every room has ceiling fans and there is plenty of A/C. High ceilings and lots of natural light. A few hundred meters off of 34 so it’s convenient but it was very quiet. 4wd is not needed. You can walk about 10 minutes down the road to the beach. There is a small grocery store on the way and a few restaurants. It’s a quick drive to town where there is an excellent grocery, many restaurants, and plenty of other services. The host was extremely responsive and helped us check in very late after our arrival flight was delayed. Five stars all the way around.

Not what we expected
The house itself was ok. There was only place to eat for 3 people which was a problem for us as a family of 4. But it was quite well equipped. It was more than a 5 minute walk to the beach but it was convenient to many places in Uvita.
Our biggest problem was with the property management company. They were absolutely unresponsive to problems we had and when/if they did respond it was to let us know that nobody else had problems so it must have been just us. The master bath has some plumbing issues - standing water, immensely slow shower drain and as a result there was a massive mosquito infestation in the master bath. We killed a minimum of 30-40 mosquitos in the bathroom on a daily basis. We reached out to property management to let them know and never heard back. If I could offer advice, find a different management company to use that may be actually respond to issues.

Not what you could expect
Casa Big Sky is advertised as having ocean view, well, it doesn't have. It is advertised being a five minute walk from the beach, count for 10-15
It is located directly at the road, therefore noisy
All the rest is perfect, interior design, equipment of the kitchen, very clean and very friendly local staff
