Description

La Perla de Ballena (the pearl of Ballena) is wonderfully located south of Uvita in the Ballena (Spanish for whale) sector of Osa , Costa Rica. Guests love that every bedroom has its own private en-suite, views of the ocean and views of the swimming pool.

Another feature of the home that is popular with guests is the large and covered patio, providing year-round enjoyment. Rent the property anytime of year (dry season, rainy season) and you will still be able to enjoy the outdoors, and the amazing Costa Rican jungle.

Enjoy amazing ocean views, exotic wildlife (howler monkeys, toucans, scarlet macaws just to name a few) and comfortable living, in La Perla de Ballena.

Guests will walk through the front door into the open floor-plan design of the living room and kitchen. The kitchen has a peninsula with seating for two, along with the adjacent dining area and table. Guests can enjoy the view of the patio, pool and ocean while preparing food in the kitchen. This space leads to the living room with its couch and SmartTV .

The bedrooms are only accessible from the patio and every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom along with air conditioning.

The Owner's Suite has a king-size bed.
Bedroom #2 sleeps five (5) and has two (2) double beds and a single size bed. There is a bunk bed with a twin on bottom and a single on top.
Bedroom #3 is a detached suite that has its own private bathroom, refrigerator and coffee maker and queen bed.

Interaction

Guests will meet with an Osa Property Management representative at check-in and at check-out. Osa Property Management will also be available from 7 am - 9 pm via WhatsApp group chat.

Osa Property Management’s Concierge and Vacation Planner team will contact you after you have made your reservation. We will assist with making any necessary transportation arrangements from Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO), or from one of the two local regional airports in the area - Palmar Sur or Quepos - to the property in Uvita. We will also arrange all excursions/activities/tours with reputable companies in the area, provide a link for grocery delivery, and make reservations at any restaurant. Our goal is to make your trip to Costa Rica enjoyable and as relaxing as you want it to be.

Neighborhood

Located in the hills above Ballena, La Perla de Ballena is surrounded on three sides by the amazing Costa Rican jungle.

Access

After check-in with an Osa Property Management representative, guests will have unlimited 24 hour access to the home.

Space

This is a private home with no shared spaces.

Transit

A 4x4 vehicle is REQUIRED to access La Perla de Ballena as the road from the Costanera Highway (Highway 34) is unpaved. Guests will drive approximately 8 minutes through beautifully wooded area while increasing in elevation to arrive at La Perla de Ballena.
This area of Costa Rica does not have UBER and private taxis are not always available.
Please contact Osa Property Management if you would like to secure private transportation during your time at this wonderful property, and/or transportation to/from San Jose International Airport (or any other airport).

Secluded Jungle Paradise
We had two couples and one single person traveling in our group. This house was very comfortable for the five of us. The pool was delightful with the most spectacular view of the ocean and jungle. Wildlife visited each day and we had great shows put on by howler monkeys, toucans, raptors, butterflies, song birds, and a pair of macaws. We also hiked the mountain many days before heading out for closely located adventures. The property is situated up the mountain with an electronic gate at the entrance of the road leading to the home. We were quite comfortable there and appreciate the opportunity to have experienced this beautiful home.

El atardecer desde la piscina y terraza privada inigualable. La casa tiene todas las comodidades necesarias incluyendo cocina completa, smart tv, wifi y aire acondicionado. No es una casa lujosa pero es cómoda y está bien cuidada, los cuartos tienen acceso a la cocina y zona común solamente al salir a través de la terraza que es un poco incómodo en la noche sobre todo por la excesiva cantidad de insectos. Desde la terraza se pueden ver tucanes, monos y otros animales. La casa está en la lo alto de la montaña se llega por una calle de lastre y es absolutamente necesario un 4x4
Recomendaría la estancia sin dudarlo

Magnifique demeure, vue imprenable sur la mer depuis toutes les pièces et la piscine, les photos ne rendent pas justice à la beauté de l’endroit.
Situé en pleine nature nous avons vu beaucoup de toucans et des aras rouges et verts sans parler d’une vue parfaite pour admirer les couchers de soleil.
Nous recommandons fortement l’endroit et suggérons d’amener vos jumelles pour observer les animaux!

Awesome ocean view from the jungle
The property is at an elevation of about 200m in the jungle. This makes the main common area comfortable without airco. Screens instead of glass in the window openings ensure good airflow. (All bedrooms have airco) A 15-minute car ride over on a bumpy road takes you to several beautiful beaches. The property itself is beautiful, luxurious. spacious, and modern. Most of all, it is private and surrounded by jungle from where you will see lots of birds (likeToucans and Macaws) and mamals. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals if you're inclined to do so. There are several supermarkets in nearby Uvita for food. Alternatively, there are lots of not expensive good restaurants close by.

Only 2 things we didn’t like and didn’t match to the price of the house:
the table in the house to eat on is very old and cannot be cleaned properly. The kitchen was not clean (Oven, drawers, cutlery). There should be a NEW sponge to clean the dishes.

Amazing view!
Great rental property! The pools are awesome and the view is spectacular! The road up was really good in comparison to other rentals we had. We didn't even have to put it in 4 wheel! Very cool layout to the house with the seperate rooms/suites! A couple pool floaties and a kettle for boiling water would have been a nice extra but we made due. Pool towels were included so that was nice! Air conditioning worked great and lots of wildlife. Monkeys, toucans and a couple very cool frogs. Dont mind the sting less honey bees around the back. They keep to themselves. The power did go out one night but we I think it's pretty common in Costa Rica and not really a big deal. When it did go out the owners were very responsive as well. Oh the only thing that was frustrating as the tv is a smart tv but it's a bit older and it took me until the last day to figure out how to log into our Netflix and prime accounts! I tried and tried and tried. I would definitely recommend renting this place!

As we mentioned and explained to you several times...the washing machine worked prior to your arrival (we cleaned the house that morning). We provided free, unlimited, washing services for you and your group to make up for the situation (we purchased a new washer but it wouldn't be available until after you checked-out). Unfortunately, you were disrespectful, mean and inconsiderate during your stay. You are not welcome back to any of our properties in the future.
